REPLACEMENT OF NEW GENERATION 900 FOG LIGHT BULBS

An easy way to get to and replace the fog light bulbs on the new gen 900 (MY 96-98) instead of removing the front air dam and under covers is to simply remove the one 25 Torx between the headlight and the cornering light lens assembly. Remove the screw and just pull out the lens. This opens up a space that you can reach into and get at the bulb. The bulb is accessible from a half turn cover at the bottom of the fog light. Using this method it takes about 5 minutes to change the bulb.

When reassembling the lens, make sure both its tabs attach to the body and simply retighten the 25 Torx.

The earlier 94 and 95 900s require a bit more disassembly as the bulb is under a cover held in place with a Phillips screw coming up from the bottom and so close to the air dam you can't get at it.

I remove the turn lens use a long 1/4 extension with a 10 mm flex socket on it and remove the 10 mm at the back of the air dam holding it on. The rest of the air dam will pull away from the body after you release two clips right at the corner of the air dam. Now you can remove the bottom 8 mm screw holding the fog light in place and swivel it enough to get to the Phillips. If its too tight still, remove the top two 8 mm screws holding the light and remove the whole thing.

This is not your routine run of the mill bulb replacement. Saab warranty paid .3 hr. for the replacement . My hat is off to you if you can do it in that time. Plan on at least a half hour, probably closer to 45 minutes.

Bulb required is 85 29 109 for 94 and 95s. 96 and later models take bulb 46 85 319.
