For all Saab 4 cylinder
engines except those with DI, we use Bosch Platinum Plugs in our
shop. We use the
WR7DP
for ALL 8V and
FR7DP
for ALL 16V. We've recently switched to the new 4 electrode Bosch
Platinums, even for DI cars. Since then, we've had problems with DI
cars and high boosting turbo cars with misfires. Also had a 2.1
engine come in with all 4 +4 plugs separated between the ceramic
insulator and the metal housing. We no longer use the +4 plug. The
best plug for the cars especially tweaked turbos is the factory
recommended NGK. On very high boosting turbos, one heat range colder,
the BP8EV might be a good choice. They easily go 60000 miles in these
engines when gapped properly with no problems, even in higher than
stock boosting turbos. We do change them at the recommended 30-35000
mile interval.
